Why Do All of My Friends Call This Website ‘Queera’? Is There Any Reason for That?

Answered on Quora.

Because Quora is known for having one of the most passionately, wildly, over the top, fanatically pro-gay userbases on the Net. It’s not even gay rights anymore. It’s gone way beyond that into celebration, promotion, and even proselytizing. I knew they would never be happy with tolerance alone. This is the familiar trajectory of all Identity Politics/SJW groups, and most gays are now the ultimate SJWs on steroids.

I mean gay rights is fine. I actually work on gay political causes! I don’t get any thanks for it, but no matter. Gay rights are important because it’s the right thing to do.

Sure, basic rights is one thing, but Quora’s pretty much an endless florid Folsom Street Pride Parade that never starts and never stops.

I’d wager the majority of Americans, even though they may support tolerance of and basic rights for gays, are not wild about this sort of pro-gay extremism.
