Since late yesterday, when the FBI first released pics of the two suspects (top row below), we now have more enhanced pics (bottom row):
Suspect 1 was killed in a shoot-out with police early this morning in Watertown, MA, after he allegedly shot and killed an MIT policeman who had responded to a “disturbance” on campus.
Washington Post says the two men are brothers, ages 20 and 19, law enforcement officials said Friday morning. Their alleged motive in the bombings remains unknown.
CBS News says the brothers have been in the United States for about a year and that they are from the Turkic Chechnya region.(Chechnya is a rebellious republic in the southwestern tip of Russia in the Caucasus Mountains. More than 95% of the population are Chechens who are overwhelmingly Sunni Muslims.
The AP has identified Suspect 2 as Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, 19, of Cambridge, Mass.
Suspect 2 reportedly is still at large. A massive manhunt is underway in Watertown. Vehicle traffic in and out of Watertown is suspended, businesses are closed and residents must stay indoors.
MIT, Harvard, Babson, and Emerson are closed today
