White Lung – “Blow It South”

White Lung provide the kind of pummeling you so desperately need on their latest track, “Blow it South”. Singer Mish Way peppers (or maybe sugars?) her mortar and pestle snarl with some decidedly hair metal liftoffs while the quartet lay into you, future viking style, with double kick drum hits and venomous slashes of guitar. White Lung, who look more like art school valedictorians than born and bred punks, seem to have purposefully lodged themselves somewhere between the goofiness of hairspray hard rock and the dark, heroin chic of mid-90s gutter punk. The results, torn between two worlds of music that most of us are content to pretend never even happened, are a force to be reckoned with.
