White Arrows – Get Gone

Though White Arrows’ (@whitearrows) front man Mickey Schiff was born blind, he managed to gain his sight back at the age of 11, the result of performing specific eye exercises each day. After an achievement like that, pretty much anything must seem attainable, including the near impossible feat of making a name for yourself in music.

Natives of Los Angeles, the band recently released their first 7-inch with Brooklyn label Ooh La La Records. “Get Gone” is a vibrating, echo-y, 1980s sounding pop song that manages to be futuristic and melodic at the same time. The spastic blips that percolate between the drum samples and Schiff’s baby-voiced dipthongs sound as though they were released into a small, enclosed space, left to forever bounce off the sides. It’s sweetly psychedelic, so it marries perfectly with the b-side — an electro-based cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Save Me A Place.”
