Story: Whiskey Tango Foxtrot starts when journalist Kim Baker (Fey) takes a role in Afghanistan. She gets to meet fellow journalists including Tanya (Robbie) and Iain (Freeman). Once there, Kim gets to meet the different soldiers and local Afghans to learn their opinions on war.
Kim starts to see the different side of war, from the point of view of the people there. This helps us want to learn about different stories to report, but also understand the world doesn’t care about the small story.
Verdict on Whiskey Tango Foxtrot
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is a comedy-drama following an American journalist who gets to report from Afghanistan. Over there she learns about how the war is treated and understands how the world reports the war. All while learning a valuable life lesson of her own.
This is a movie that gets to show another view on the Afghanistan war. It shows that not everyone involved from both sides wants conflict and actively looks to not let it happen. However, the news reports violence to make things seem worse than they really are. This does get the message over but by the end, it seems to be a safety look at the bigger story going on.
Final Thoughts – Whiskey Tango Foxtrot does the basics of wartime reporting.
