*Which of Your Appliances Could You Live Without?

By Ourbabyblog @OurBabyBlogx
So we all know having a baby isn't cheap, on top of the current economic status and rise in electric & gas prices too, it can be pretty tight some months, we know this feeling personally and have now learnt how to budget properly! I was having a think about how we could start saving some more money etc and with summer here the heating is off, straight away that saves us lots, but out of the electrical appliances we own, which ones could we live without?Appliances we can live without..

Oven - this one I would say no, need it, but ours isn't working at the moment and we've actually done pretty well at not needing to use it, the hob still works so we can have spag Bol, soups, pasta, stir fries, steak, beans on toast ha, we have a griddle pan too which is great for kebabs and meat Abd veg actually, plus in the summer no-one really wants to be slaving away in a hot kitchen, salads and bbqs are the main diet! Ha.
Coffee machine - this is really only for nicer coffee, a filter coffee, you can't beat that smell in the morning, Ben drinks coffee but I can't stand it lol. Ben actually prefers the instant coffee anyway so we could live without this!
Toaster - I'm a toast for breakfast kind of girl, peanut butter, mmmm, ok I'm going off topic..But it's only used once a day so I guess we could do without it, maybe we could use the grill instead?

Tumble Dryer - Now summer is here, we can hang out the washing to dry, plus it really is a luxury, it's nice in the colder months to get your clothes out of a lovely warm dryer though! But it does use up a lot of electricity!

Appliances we couldn't live without;

Fridgefreezer - I think we all know the answer to this one! Where would we put all out food? Ha. Necessity!
Washing Machine - Haha, just the thought of not having one makes me panic! The washing is never ending in this house anyway, let alone not having it!

Tv - apart from cbeebies, I don't really watch much telly at the m, ha. Most of the time we use it to listen to the radio, it helps keep Abbie asleep too as she needs noise to fall asleep to, in the summer we'll use it less I think but could we live without it? Probably not, it's one of those things I would probably miss, and how would I watch X factor when it comes back on? Ha
Home phone
We don't even use it, but in order to have the Internet we need it unfortunately, that would save us plenty of money as it's plugged in 24/7!
What we tend to do is actually turn appliances off at the mains, does this help? I think a little, it's better than doing nothing!
I'm guilty at leaving lights on, I'm better in the months where it's lighter earlier but when winter hits and I'm up at 6am, it's pitch black outside so we have no natural light till gone 7-8am, this is something I need to get better at to save money!
I'm thinking of trying this out actually, see how much money we do save? Even if its only £1, every little helps right!
