Where's Your BFF?

It's hard being away from my besties.
When you've had the same gal pals since you were thirteen, finding new friends to invite into your inner sanctum is pretty difficult, at least for me it is.
Don't get me wrong, I'm nice enough, and sociable, but, um that's kinda it.  After the drinks are gone and the party, or social event has ended, that's as far as I take it.  Now, it's not that I don't "like" any of the women I've met, but I'm just not that in to them, you know.
There is something very comforting about being able to let loose with ladies you've known for like close to forever, and you don't have to hold back or pretend .... about anything.
When I came to Maryland for college, I left all my BFFs behind.  Now, 10 years post undergrad, I'm still here and they're not.
It's strange and often lonely at times when you know you have really good friends somewhere out there but you just can't reach out and touch and be as involved in their lives as you'd like to be.
Visiting is cool, but of course, it always seems to end too soon.  Like this weekend.  I had a total blast when one of my BFFs (also M's Godmother) came to visit.
It was awesome to have my besty around hanging out and playing with the dudes.  Not to mention that she loves kids and is just great with them.  The dudes love her, like I do.

Spending a lazy family day with my fav gal pal was just what the doctor ordered.  It's always cool to have adult wine drinking fun with someone who knows you as well as any of your family members.
It was an amazing time that kind of made me proud of my friendship exclusivity.  I mean, their just isn't a replacement for true, die hard girlfriends.

Tell me about your BFFs.  Are they super awesome like mine, but live far away?  Leave a comment and share how you deal with your friends being far away.
