Where In The World? No.39 #Arizona and a BIG HELLO to Our London Walks Pals Kathy & Mark!

By Lwblog @londonwalks
Where in the World? is our occasional series in which Adam, The Daily Constitutional’s Editor is logging the locations of his London Walkers.
“We meet people from all over the world, and I thought it would be fun to map them out to create a picture of where our London Walkers (and Daily Constitutionalists) come from.
I’ll be breaking it down by English and Welsh counties, Scottish regions, Irish provinces, U.S States, Canadian provinces, Australian states, European, Asian, African and South American countries.”

Adam writes…

This installment of Where In The World? is dedicated to a pair of dedicated London Walkers, our big Arizona buddies Kathy & Mark
Kathy & Mark are regular visitors to London. And when they head back home they keep up with us via The Daily Constitutional. Kathy dropped me a line recently:
I would like to tell you how much we enjoy this [The Daily Constitutional] and all the walks we do with you and other London Walks guides. You make our yearly trip.

Thanks Kathy. Your company is always appreciated on a London Walk and all of the guides say hi! David – the London Walks wordsmith – once came up with the idea that the collective noun for folks who join our London Walks should be a sociability of London Walkers. You guys are the very personification of that idea. Hope all's well in Arizona and we'll see you again soon! Whenever I post in this occasional series, I try to find a connection between the home of the London Walkers I have met and my own city, London.
In the case of Arizona, it's impossible to ignore the most famous link of 'em all. London Bridge can now be found in Lake Havasu City, Arizona…

The old bridge was subsiding and was bought by one Robert P. McCulloch. The great myth of the tale is that he was under the impression that he was buying Tower Bridge. Not true! He knew the bridge he wanted, bought it from the City of London and had it shipped to Arizona. Here's the bridge as it stands today in Arizona…

A London Walk costs £10 – £8 concession. To join a London Walk, simply meet your guide at the designated tube station at the appointed time. Details of all London Walks can be found at www.walks.com
