When in York.

By Emmielois @emmielois
Everyone has a favorite place, one of mine just so happens to be York.
Me and my mom managed to spend a few days there in the half term holidays and I can quite literally say we went down every nook and cranny possible, in the given time limit we had.It did rain, quite a bit, but that did not stop us! We soldered on, dodging huge puddles and lifting our shopping bags high with mighty-ness.Any way, here's what I got up to...
These were my two outfits for the two different days that we were there.

Thought I would just set the scene first, we stayed at the Dean Court Hotel which is located right outside the minister. It was really pleasant and welcoming, also, it was so convenient because it was only a two minute walk away from The Shambles.
I've been to York many times, but this was the first time that I had been in The Shambles when it was completely deserted! It was such a different atmosphere. The Shambles are so unique and offer lots of interesting little shops.

This was inside the Jack Wills shop. To be honest, I think I prefer the actual shops to the clothes!
Had to have a picture of the Mulberry shop sitting smug on the corner! As I came back up the road that Mulberry was on, I spied this little beauty...Priestleys Vintage Shop. I had seen this shop before but it was closed, but this time I got to have a good rummage through everything. I can remember it being a tad expensive, but totally worth the money if you had your heart set on something...which you could easily do in this shop. There was also vintage designer gear in here too under the counter, so defiantly worth a peep. If you know were they are, York is an interesting place for Vintage and second hand shops. It's best if you do some research on were they are all located though, that's what I did before I went. They aren't particularly hard to find, I ended up finding all the ones that I wanted to go do, I dare say there is a whole lot more that I didn't even know about. But that just adds to the fun and excitement of finding them!   Fossgate, is a popular street for more unique shops... ...including another vintage shop I went to called Purple HazeIt's one of York's more popular vintage shops, located on Fossgate street, its not too far away from the center were all your high street shops are. It's got the typical olden day vibe to it, with music from the 40's and 50's softly playing in the background.the girls in the shop kindly let me take a few pictures!Under the main desk, they have lots of unique little broaches, rings and necklaces...so , you know, I just had to buy one. Actually, make that two!

I bought these two gorgeous little broaches that came to about £5 I think. I don't own a lot of vintage clothing, but I think I might start to stock up on vintage jewelry. It just oozes character. I also went to Glory Days Vintage,  which specialises in vintage wedding dresses. You need to book an appointment to look at the wedding dresses, so sadly, I didn't get to properly look at them. At the front of their shop, they do have a tiny section for what I would call 'normal' vintage/second hand clothing.  I took a card too, because it was pretty.  York has such a large selection of places to eat, so obviously food was on the agenda.  Of course, your trip to York can not be complete without having a Betty's!  Lunch at the Bagel Nash  My favorite place of all to eat was called 'El Piano'   It specialises in vegan food, which is a bonus for the veggies reading.  Everything was so colourful and vibrant inside, with a Spanish theme carried throughout.   Our water also came in a sangria jug which instantly made everything funnier.    I did also do some high street shopping, it was mostly browsing though. In the end I did end up buying two things... As you might know if you read my first post 'Fashion Questions', I am addicted to slogan t-shirts, so when I saw this one for £8 in Mango, I had to have it!    I then purchased these cool pair of dungarees from Topshop. They were £55 but I paid £45 because I had a gift voucher. *I promise I will get round to posting a few outfits including these two pieces soon!*  I love York, and will definitely be returning in the near future.
