What We Serve On St Patty's Day!

By Therelishedroost

I am sure everyone thinks that all of the Irish will be eating Corn beef and Cabbage! Well not all of us! I must say that I don't every remember having it when I lived there as a child, but I do remember wonderful Irish sausage, potatoes, and Shepherds pie! We usually throw on a small amount of corn beef and cabbage for those who enjoy it. However, we usually always have the following: Shepherds pie with (ground turkey) because my daughters refuse to eat a lamb! We also have a wonderful roasted Irish salmon with a honey glaze, and plenty of mashed potatoes!  There are certain treats that we love to have and brown Irish bread rather than the Irish bread you find in the supermarket is our choice! I thought I might give you a nice list that you may want to include if you are partaking in the Irish festivities and I have linked them to recipes so as to not take up too much room on post!

Bells of Ireland with a lovely white mix!

Authentic Shepherds pie

1 lb. fresh salmon fillets
2 tbsp. olive oil
1/4 c. honey
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 tbsp. chili powder
Heat the oil in a skillet. Add the salmon and saute until nearly done. Meanwhile, mix the honey, garlic and chili powder. Just before the fish is done, pour honey mixture over it. It will bubble up in the olive oil and form a glaze you can spoon back over the fish. Serve at once. Serve with a slice of lime.
