Verdict on What We Find on the Road

Recap

This is a road trip movie following a teenager who gets a present from his estranged father. It leads him to travel across America to experience life before he starts his first year at college. This gives him a chance to have his first adventure as he suffers problems in life.

Best Parts

The sense of adventure by traveling across the country is always a big draw. This handles it well as the timid guy risks his future to learn about his estranged father. The mystery about his father is the driving force, as his father’s reputation is bigger than anything TJ knows. In the end, the life lessons learnt are what is important from the journey.

Worst Parts

The adventure is important, but we don’t seem to explore the relationship TJ has with his mother, the person who raised him. Outside of that, nothing feels outside the normal and it feels far too similar to most other movies that tackled the same subject.

Performances

Finn Haney does a great job in the leading role, he shows the uncertainty his character is going through. He brings this character to life and helps us enjoy the journey too. Elsewhere, the supporting cast brings their best, as we see how the stars make the most of their meeting on the journey.

Final ThoughtsWhat We Find on the Road is enjoyable, heartfelt and emotional.
