What To Wear For: Work Meeting in London

By Whattowearfor @whattowearfor

Today, I had a meeting in London with one of my bosses. On a day-to-day basis, I work just outside of London, but about once a month or so, I travel into The City. I always enjoy these days – it’s nice to have a change from the normal 9-5, and invariably the working day will only consist of a short meeting/workshop etc, perhaps a lunch with someone important, and then done. Early finishes are the best. I usually try and coordinate it so I do something afterwards with a friend, or the boy if he’s about in London Town too (he splits his time between two places like me).

I wanted to show you this outfit as I REALLY like it. I’ve blogged at length about the outfits I feel good in and how I think this can completely transform your day, and this is no exception.

You may remember this blazer from my post last week about the in-laws big family get-together. I love it so much.  It can be dressed up for smart workish type affairs (as demonstrated here) or for more smart-casual playtime scenarios as I showed last week. Blazers really are such a useful thing to have in your wardrobe.

I teamed it with a little white shift dress I’ve had in my wardrobe for years. I love white dresses, despite the colour being completely impractical. However, with the blazer (I love the combination of black and white, especially if there’s stripes involved), I think this makes for such a crisp, clean work-appropriate outfit. Shifts are so easy-breezy to wear. Loose-fitting to minimise self-conscious thoughts, this one is also sleeveless so I don’t get too hot, with cute little pockets on the front for storing a few little essentials (oyster card, security pass and such like).

To break up the monotone a bit, I chose a pair of tan coloured pumps. These actually go with everything, and are super comfy (a must if you’re walking around London all day).
