Why you should watch: It's tackles gentrification in an unique way. All while exploring interesting family dynamics. You'll fall in love with (and seriously root for) the Morales family.

What it's about: When a stranger makes a shocking claim about his wife, family man Adam Price becomes entangled in a mystery as he desperately searches for answers. (Netflix)

Why you should watch: You literally won't know what's coming next. It's one jaw dropping moment after the next. Don't be surprised if you finish it really quickly.

What it's about: A Hasidic Jewish woman in Brooklyn flees to Berlin from an arranged marriage and is taken in by a group of musicians - until her past comes calling. (Netflix)

Why you should watch: It gives a fascinating yet respectful peek into the Hasidic community. Esther's backstory is excellently portrayed while thoughtfully showing her find herself in the present.

What it's about: Life is a series of awkward situations for comedy writer and mom Andrea, thanks to plenty of neuroses and a knack for sticking her foot in her mouth. (Netflix)

Why you should watch: This show is absolutely hilarious. Like cackling funny. It's so cringey yet relatable.

What it's about: A young man feels torn between his dream of becoming a master sommelier and his father's expectations that he'll take over the family barbecue business. (Netflix)

Why you should watch: It's a really heartwarming story about going after dreams against all odds. This movie is definitely a bit of tearjerker, but it also has a lot of humor mixed in.

What it's about:
Creator Issa Rae stars as Issa Dee, who struggles to navigate the tricky professional and personal terrain of Los Angeles along with her best friend Molly. (HBO)

Why you should watch: It's a super comical 20-something come up story with successes and inevitable set backs. This show also the delves into the complexities of female friendships.

What it's about: A working-class Jewish family in New Jersey watches the political rise of aviator-hero and xenophobic populist Charles Lindbergh, as he becomes president and turns the nation toward fascism. This six-part re-imagining of history is based on the Philip Roth novel of the same name. (HBO)

Why you should watch: It's the terrifying reality of what could have happened if Franklin D. Roosevelt had lost the 1940 election. Essentially what occurs when hate wins. It's hard not to make some connections to our very real current times...

What it's about: Maya, the young communications director for a New York senatorial campaign, receives a wedding invitation from her college schoolmate now living in London. She leaves her professional and personal life behind, in favor of traveling to England and reconnecting with old friends and ends up in the midst of their personal crises. Relationships are forged and broken, political scandals exposed, London social life lampooned, love affairs ignited and doused, and of course, there are four weddings...and a funeral. (Hulu)

Why you should watch: It's a really cute romantic comedy. The perfect mindless escape.

Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist

What it's about: Zoey Clarke is a whip-smart computer coder forging her way in the tech world of San Francisco. After an unexpected event, she starts to hear the innermost wants and desires of the people around her through music. People are unknowingly singing their feelings through popular songs - just to her. At first, she questions her own sanity and turns to the only person she thinks can help explain what's happening - her neighbor Mo, a devoted music enthusiast, and DJ. With Mo's help, she realizes what's happening and soon discovers that this unwanted curse may just be an incredibly wonderful gift. (Hulu)

Why you should watch: Okay, so this show should be super corny. Fine, at points it is, but it is a very charming watch with a lot of heart. It has layers.

What it's about: A record store owner revisits past relationships through music and pop culture while trying to get over her one true love. (Hulu)

Why you should watch: Zoë Kravitz in all her glory. That's the initial draw, but once you get past that there's also a quirky little rom-com in there.
