Happy April, everyone! There is a fantastic month of movies ahead on TCM to look forward to, so let’s get started.
First of all, we have Judy Garland as Star of the Month. Her movies will be paying every Friday night in April. There’s also a spotlight on John, Lionel, and Ethel Barrymore with a Best of the Barrymores spotlight every Monday night. Between those two movies, there’s a lot of great stuff to look forward to.
I’m also very excited about the From Caligari to Hitler spotlight on films from Germany’s Weimar era, which will be running on Wednesday nights starting April 13th. Since I’m a huge fan of many movies from this era such as Metropolis, Diary of a Lost Girl, The Blue Angel, and M, I’m so looking forward to this. Plus there are a few movies in that schedule that I’ve never seen before, but have been wanting to see for a long time. Should be great.
Last, but certainly not least, there’s a night of Sophia Loren coming up on April 28th. This night’s schedule includes the premiere of an interview she taped at the 2015 TCM Film Festival. I had the privilege of being able to attend the taping of this interview and I can safely say you’re in for a real treat. Since Robert Osborne was unable to attend the festival last year, Loren’s son Edoardo Ponti filled in for him, making this a totally unique interview. They’ll also be playing Human Voice, which is a short film she starred in in 2014. Her performance is absolutely incredible in it; I can’t recommend it highly enough.

April 1: The month kicks off with a night of movies from Star of the Month Judy Garland. Tonight’s movies include Pigskin Parade at 8:00 PM, Listen Darling at 9:45 PM, Love Finds Andy Hardy at 11:15 PM, Babes in Arms at 1:00 AM, Everybody Sing at 2:45 AM, and Thoroughbreds Don’t Cry at 4:30 AM.
April 3: Enjoy a Paulette Goddard double feature of The Young in Heart at 8:00 PM and Kitty at 10:00 PM. At 12:00 AM is the very historically important silent film Within Our Gates.
April 4: Ready for a night with the Barrymores? Tonight, there’s Don Juan at 8:00 PM, A Bill of Divorcement at 10:00 PM, State’s Attorney at 11:30 PM, The Great Man Votes at 1:00 AM, Bulldog Drummond Comes Back at 2:30 AM, Bulldog Drummond’s Revenge at 3:45 AM, and Bulldog Drummond’s Peril at 4:45 AM.
April 5: Happy 100th birthday to the great Gregory Peck! April 8: It’s another night of Judy Garland movies tonight with The Wizard of Oz at 8:00 PM, Strike Up the Band at 11:00 PM, Little Nellie Kelly at 1:15 AM, Babes on Broadway at 3:00 AM, and Andy Hardy Meets Debutante at 5:00 AM.
April 9: Don’t miss the wonderful Buster Keaton in Seven Chances at 8:15 AM. Jane Wyman gets the spotlight tonight with The Lost Weekend at 8:00 PM, Johnny Belinda at 10:00 PM, and So Big at 12:00 AM.
April 10: Gotta love a day that begins with Greta Garbo in Queen Christina at 6:00 AM, the Marx Brothers in Animal Crackers at 10:00 AM, Tallulah Bankhead in Lifeboat at 12:00 PM, and Bogie and Bacall in To Have and Have Not at 6:00 PM.
April 11: The Barrymores are back tonight with On Man’s Journey at 8:00 PM, Treasure Island at 9:30 PM, Young Dr. Kildare at 11:30 PM, Key Largo at 1:00 AM, Calling Dr. Kildare at 3:00 AM, and The Secret of Dr. Kildare at 4:30 AM.
April 13: Now this is my kind of day: musicals and Weimar-era German cinema! Then it’s time for the first part of TCM’s From Caligari to Hitler series with The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari at 8:00 PM, the documentary From Caligari to Hitler: German Cinema in the Age of the Masses at 9:30 PM, Nosferatu at 11:30 PM, Faust at 1:15 AM, The Adventures of Prince Achmed at 3:15 AM, and The Blue Angel at 4:30 AM.

April 24: Lots of great comedy on today, like The Awful Truth at 12:15 PM, The Major and the Minor at 4:15 PM, and Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House at 6:15 PM.
April 25: It’s the last night of the best of the Barrymores with Rasputin and the Empress at 8:00 PM, Grand Hotel at 10:15 PM, Night Flight at 12:15 AM, Dinner at Eight at 1:45 AM, Arsene Lupin at 3:45 AM, and Arsene Lupin Returns at 5:15 AM.
April 27: Tonight is the third part of the From Caligari to Hitler series with Pandora’s Box at 8:00 PM, Diary of a Lost Girl at 10:30 PM, Westfront 1918 at 12:00 AM, The 3 Penny Opera at 1:45 AM, Kameradschaft at 3:45 AM, and Anna Christie (German version) at 5:30 AM.
April 28: Sophia Loren will be getting lots of screen time on TCM tonight with the premiere of her Live from the TCM Classic Film Festival interview at 8:00 PM, a short film she starred in called Human Voice at 9:15 PM, Marriage – Italian Style at 9:45 PM, Arabesque at 12:45 AM, The Priest’s Wife at 2:45 AM, and More Than a Miracle at 4:45 AM.

April 30: April draws to a close with a night of movies starring the very underrated Ruth Hussey. The Uninvited at 8:00 PM, H.M. Pulham, Esq. at 10:00 PM, and The Philadelphia Story at 12:15 AM.
