What’s in My Makeup Bag?

By Remielund @remsluxuryblog

So, for Christmas I received (rather giddily) an Anya Hindmarch makeup bag which quickly prompted a mass makeup clear out. Not all of my war paint was going to make the transition to my shiny new makeup bag (only the best for Anya) and it was time to be ruthless. Here’s what made the cut.

Old Favourites…

Chanel Vitalumiere Foundation Beige 40 £35

This has been my foundation of choice since I was 22. I also have the slightly darker shade (50) that I use as a base layer on a night out. I then use the lighter shade to emphasize my cheekbones, brow and bridge of my nose. I love the sheen that this foundation offers as well as the coverage and it’s fabulous staying power.

Touche Eclat

Yep, I know this is rather an old school concealer but I have yet to find another product to work such magic on my eye bags. This is also something that’s been in my makeup bag since the age of 18 (not the same tube) and I’m not ashamed to say it.

Rimmel Powder in Peach Glow

Rimmel, I know, not very luxurious but when it comes to translucent powder, it turns out I’m quite easily pleased. I have tried more coveted brands before but this does exactly what I need it to and is a guilt free purchase when it comes to saving pennies.

Bronzer

Now when it comes to bronzer, it’s safe to say I get around. I have a few on the go at the minute, my old faithful Mac bronzer in Bronze which I use everyday without fail. This is also my base bronzer on a night out. I then use bronzing pearls by Natural Collection over the top to add a bit of depth. New to the party is this super sexy Lancome bronzer that manages to make you look like you’ve just hot footed it back from St tropez even if you haven’t seen the sun in months. I love the shimmery finish and the coral tones. A bit much when you are popping to the supermarket, but looks fab when you are in need of an instant glow.

Blusher

Now, I recently lost my favorite Clinique blusher in a tragic dodgem related incident and it was a free gift which I will never get back as it doesn’t exist. As you can probably tell this wound hasn’t healed but it does mean that I’ve invested in a couple more to ease the pain. The YSL Touche blush was an impulse purchase and it’s something that only comes out for special occasions that require shimmer. My mom also popped the pink one in my stocking and it is just as gorgeous.

Mascara

I’m using two at the moment, a dried up Loreal one that I can’t bring myself to throw out and a Chanel one that looks gorge in my makeup bag but doesn’t blow me away. I’ve kissed a lot of frogs when it comes to mascara but I’m yet to find my prince. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Eyeliner

Now this is one department in which I’m completely satisfied. I’ve moved on from Mac and I’m currently having a love affair with Lancome. The size itself is rather impressive and I’m a huge fan of the deep black shade.

Lips

Mac is my go to brand of choice for lips but I am flirting with the idea of buying a dior lipgloss. I love the chunky packaging and the shimmery shades on offer. For now though, I’m still loving my Mac C Thru and my Wildly Lush. Mac myth lipstick survived the clear out as did my Mac Underage gloss. This little gem by Estee Lauder was also hidden at the bottom of my Christmas stocking and it makes a great alternative to Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream which I also have in lipstick form.

Is there anything that my makeup bag is missing out on? Leave a comment below and feel free to fill me in on what’s in your bag, I don’t like to feel left out. x
