Tetrahydrocannabinol (or THC for short) is a cannabinoid, a compound found in the cannabis plant. This is the compound in cannabis that gets you high. Today I am going to speak through its effects and how it is used.

How Does THC work?

The THC binds itself to the cannabinoid receptors in the brain. This causes a variety of psychoactive effects. The chemical structure of THC mimics the chemicals that are already created within the body. An effect similar to this can be experienced when running. Athletes get what is called a "runner's high". THC is currently used to solve a variety of problems.

Effects of THC on the body

The effects of THC varies from person to person depending on a person's body chemistry. There are positive effects of THC, including relaxation, pain relief and energy. There are, however, negative effects, like dizziness, memory impairment and paranoia. It's best to take THC in small doses to see how the body reacts.

Risks of THC

One of the most common risks of THC include memory impairment and damaged motor skills. Studies have also found between THC and a low IQ if used by children. If THC is used heavily, it can stop the body from functioning properly, as the endocannabinoid system is interrupted.

People who suffer from mental conditions can have increased symptoms if they use THC. People at risk include people with schizophrenia or psychosis. It is best to know how THC will affect you before using it in your treatment.

Medical Benefits of THC

THC provides many benefits for people with medical issues. There are many conditions that THC can help treat, including PTSD, cancer, ADHD, Nausea, Crohn's disease and inflammation. As research continues, it is likely that more and more benefits will be found.

You can  treat many things in the body with THC, but it is important to stay wary of the effects of it, as the effects vary from person to person. Research has found more benefits of THC, and will continue finding more in the future.
