For years I spent good money on career clothes, but spent my weekends in faded knits and worn-out clothes from my work closet. I learned over the years the benefit to quality casual and loungewear, especially come the colder months. I'm still comfortable, but I feel good inside and out.
And these faux-leather front pants from Stella Carakasi... I've mentioned them a few times on the blog and worn them even more often. They're pretty awesome - not as tight as leggings, but not so baggy they look lumpy with longer tops. The ankles have zippers, the waistband is smooth, the ponte back is thick, the faux leather is soft and gives without making a lot of noise or bagging with wear. I've worn to work, I've worn on weekends, I'm wearing them as I sit on the couch writing this post!
I've worn this same exact outfit with my silver slip-on sneakers (similar) and with my flat black Chelsea boots. It's the kind of look you can wear curled up on the couch watching TV, going out to dinner with the family, or heading to a friend's house for book club. Much more versatile than faded stretched-out knits!
