What I Missed About Blogging

By Theliteraturelion @LiteratureLion
I've taken many hiatuses from blogging.
It's a bad habit. I'll take a day off from blogging, and that turns into a couple of days, and then a couple of weeks, and next thing I know - it's been three months!
I just get too busy to do anything and I'm not able to make a simple blog post. Usually it's just that I haven't had time to read so I have no reviews to write.
I guess that's just an excuse. I always have something book-related that I can talk about. I could schedule a bunch of Top Ten Tuesday or Waiting on Wednesday posts.
Eventually I come back. I mean, I did this time and now I have posts scheduled so I will have some things up during the next week when I'm busy with exams. Usually I come back because I miss it.
Why is it that I miss blogging?
1. I miss reading.
Blogging was a way to pressure me to read. If I started staring at my empty blog, it would tell me that I needed to read something to talk about. This would get me to start reading and then I'd obviously want to write about the book so I'd start blogging again.
2. I miss the community.
I miss all the people. There are only a handful of people that I would still talk to when I wasn't blogging. Other people I'd only talk to when I did blog. Those are some of the people that I missed.
3. I miss knowing things.
When I blogged, I always could tell people when the next book of a series was coming out, or what books were being made into movies. I miss having this information at the tip of my finger tips.
4. I miss writing.
I don't write a lot, but blogging helped me write more and more. Each blog post helps me with my writing skills and how I converse with people on the Internet.
5. I miss having the commitment.
Having something that I could always turned to when I was bored or sick of reading was beneficial. When I felt like writing, browsing the internet, or making graphics - I could always find that in my blog.
6. I miss talking about books.
That was a big thing. When I blogged, I always had an opportunity to talk about books. Even if no one reads my posts, I still had an outlet rather than talking to myself.
I'm happy to be back and I hope to continue blogging for a while!
