What I’m Thinking

By Sars @RockinAroundThe

I finally got around to seeing Frozen this weekend.

I would acknowledge a spoiler alert… but I think I was the last person on the planet to finally see this movie, so I’m going to assume that all of you have seen Frozen.  I thought it was cute, but it was no Little Mermaid or Beauty & The Beast.  I really don’t understand why children are sooo obsessed with Frozen.  The songs were ok, but I found Adele Dezeem’s song to be the only memorable one.

With old school Disney movies, the entire soundtrack was memorable… hello Lion King, can you feel the love tonight hunty?

I guess I enjoyed the twist of the act of true love being between the sisters, but I found myself longing for a villan.  I don’t think that Prince Hans was a big enough character to be the villan… he was no Ursula, Jafar, Gaston, or Scar.  Hans was also attractive (if you’re into gingies), I want my villans to have something slightly off about them such as:

  • Ursula is a freaking drag queen.  She’s also a huge octopus… nobody likes octopi.
  • Jafar’s moustache is the epitome of creepy.  You get the chills from looking at him.
  • Gaston is sexy, but he has jet black hair and he’s a total douche from the start.
  • Scar was one manipulative bitch, you knew he was bad from his coloring alone.

I suppose some could argue that Elsa was the villan, but she doesn’t have the face of evil (she has the face of fierce).  We knew that she had a good heart within the first five minutos of the movie.  After Elsa let it go, her style was on point and I was all about her hair.  She also had a superb eye for decor, I was digging the clean lines of her ice castle.

I loved Christoph from the start, so I was all about his love story with Anna.  However, it drives me insane that Anna’s name is pronounced Ana but spelled Anna… I don’t know why, but it’s a major turn off for me.

I did like the movie, and I watched it three times to make the most of my $5 (I had that on demand three-day rental).  I just don’t understand why children are like One Direction obsessed with it.  I mean obviously I’m the problem here, if the whole world is into Frozen except me… perhaps I’ve become uncool.  I don’t think anything will ever compare to the movies that Disney turned out between 1989 – 1995 (Little Merm, Beauty + Beast, Aladdin, Lion King, Pocah) at least for me.  Maybe I waited too long to see Frozen, and all the hype let me down.  What did you think of the movie?  Should I give it another chance and re-order on this snowy day?

Or shall I get caught up on the Bev Hills reunion from last night, Reign from Thursday, Grimm + Hanni from Friday, and Once Upon A Time from Sunday?… I watch a lot of TV.
