What I’m Doing Now…

By Marensmorsels @marentweets

Hi guys. This is going to be more of an update kinda post.

I haven’t been cooking too much lately. Well, I have been cooking, but nothing too fun and exciting.

I have a few fun things to tell you… mostly about exploring our new home here in Sausalito, CA. But the biggest piece of news is…

I GOT A JOB AT ANTHROPOLOGIE!!!

It was completely random. Last Thursday I didn’t feel like sitting at home in the apartment being sad and jobless. So I drove 10 minutes north to Corte Madera because I saw a Nordstrom one day while running errands. When I got to where the Nordstrom was I realized it was a mall. The Nordy’s was under construction so I decided to explore the rest of the mall instead. There is a MadeWell in there… just sayin’. I’d never been into an Anthropologie before, but had shopped online so I immediately made a B-Line into the store. I started talking to the sales clerk ringing up my aviator sunglasses and before I knew it I had an interview later that day. 1 interview led to an online application and an opinion survey. Today they called to offer me the job.

So cool. I start Thursday.

And I get a sick discount… holy cow I’m going to have to see a guru on self control so I don’t spend my entire paycheck at work.

Max and I explored all weekend. We’re looking for a couple of the necessities… a breakfast place. A place to get burritos, especially of the breakfast variety. Chinese Food. A beach to take Donner. You know, all that basic stuff.

The first place we tried was a breakfast place in Mill Valley that got rave review on Yelp. People even wrote that they were hesitant to give it a good review in fear that it would become too crowded and discovered.

I ordered the Huevos Rancheros, the entire menu was mexican inspired.

They were the worst huevos rancheros I’ve ever had in my life! Even the refried beans were bad. Everything was bland and we are NOT going back. Max’s meal was the same way. Just bland and yucky.

We were really disappointed.

Saturday afternoon we went over to Stinson Beach with our neighbors, Jared and Jenny. We had a bbq complete with bratwurst and burgers. Then we let the puppies play on the beach. They have a little dog named Laika who we’ve named Donner’s Girl Friend.

The drive to the beach took about 45 minutes but it was gorgeous. Max and I really want to go back.

This is how Donner rides in the car these days… he doesn’t like sitting in the back too much.

Yesterday we tried a new restaurant for breakfast called the Dipsea. I really wanted a breakfast burrito and they had one on the menu. It sounded delish!!! It was just okay but they have a full Greek menu that they serve every night. We’re going back for dinner.

They have biscuits!!!!!!

We really liked their breakfast. Max had these cornmeal peach and blueberry pancakes that were so fluffy, I don’t think I’ve seen a fluffier pancake.

Unfortunately, it’s not our burrito joint. But it is our dinner breakfast joint.

We all started running. It is half marathon training season afterall.

I definitely picked up a few bad habits while moving. I started snacking A LOT. We also started eating a lot of unhealthy meals. Moving makes things hard and getting takeout is so easy after a long stressful day.

Lately I’ve been focusing not on losing the few pounds I gained or counting calories. I’m just trying to rebuild some of my good habits. I’m trying to get 7-8 hours of sleep every night. Eat a veggie filled lunch. Skip snacking unless I’m truly hungry. And eat 1 dinner. I snack enough every night that it equals at least 2 dinners.

I’m also starting to get back into my fitness routine. It hasn’t been easy so far, but I’m getting there.

I might not see results as fast as if I “dieted” but I’m happy to get slow results. I think they’ll come. So far, everything has definitely been improving. I feel so much better in general.

Today Max took me back to HopMonk to celebrate my new job. I’m way excited for it. I think it’ll be so much more laidback and social. I’m hoping to meet a few friends to hang out with on days off. Plus I love the store… if you’re gonna work retail, at least work someplace you love.

Luckily, Max’s job is good enough that I can work a fun job like this one. I’m one lucky gal.

I splurged a little and had the garlic fries. I LOVE GARLIC FRIES. And if you’re gonna splurge, splurge on something you LOVE and can’t live without. I also had the fish tacos off the happy hour appetizer menu.

It was happy hour and I can’t turn down a 3 dollar beer. Especially if it’s a fancy beer. I had the Kellerbier.
