What Have You Been Watching? #6

Posted on the 13 August 2012 by Impsndcnma @impsndcnma

Every Monday we can talk about what we watched over the weekend. I’d enjoy hearing what new movies, games, or televisions shows were seen over the weekend. This is what I’ve been watching this weekend.

What Have You Been Watching?

August 13th 2012 Edition

This was the weekend of reorganizing and cleaning. It feels like we spent sunrise to sunset working on rearranging our apartment and building new organizers from Ikea.

Now that all the excitement from the weekend has wound down and its time to get back to business there’s a bit of a let down. Back to the grind they say.

I’ve decided that weekly I’ll be reporting progress of my job search here. Let’s face it, I’m not going to make a substantial income working on this blog in any fashion and I need to start making some money. I hope that everyone who visits will hold me responsible in my quest to find new employment. If you have a LinkedIn account and we aren’t friends yet, send me a request. It’s all about building my network.

Now on to the entertainment!

Movies:

The Bourne Legacy: Full review coming later today.

Rhode Island International Film Festival – Love is in the Air (Short Package) – Full write up to come today as well.

The Outlaw Josey Wales – Decided to sit down and watch this Western classic last night. Needless to say I wasn’t disappointed. The iconic Clint Eastwood proved once again to be the king of the genre. The story of Josey Wales is interesting since they really play up the Union is the enemy. I was having trouble rooting for the Confederacy in the beginning, but then it just becomes a story of the singular Josey Wales standing up against them. Eastwood doesn’t drive the film alone though. There’s some other fantastic performances from supporting players. I viewed this film on Blu-ray and the colors have transferred over to the new format fantastically. If you’ve never seen The Outlaw Josey Wales, there’s no better time than now.

Summer with Monika – I’ve wanted to see this ever since the Criterion Collection announced it. For some reasons I’m always intrigued by these films featuring a some kind of Adventure. While the title of the film highlights Monika, the story really centers around her boyfriend, Harry. He gets into a whirlwind romance with this young woman, but he must grow into a man quickly if he wants to survive. Summer with Monika really exemplifies the carefree nature of teenagers and the problems of throwing caution to the wind.

Video Games:

Persona 4 Arena – I never thought I’d say this about a fighting game, but I’ve got a long way to go before I’ll be able to write a review on this one. Persona 4 Arena is filled to the brim with story and an extremely capable fighting engine. While it won’t be everyone’s delight (catered towards Persona fans or fans of Arc Systems fighters), there’s never been a fighting game like this. I’m really enjoying everything about it.

Now it’s your turn! What did you watch this weekend?
