this post is dedicated to Sara who deeply loves fashion and sent me her personal opinio on this collection as soon as she saw it ❤︎
There are clothes that are tattooed on yourself. Those are clothes that you would never take off. They are just like tattoos. These are memories of past experiences. Those are heirlooms that you carry around from far away places. They are fragments of a thousand lives each of us, regardless of age, have lived.
Some of us have the ability to whisper to a small portion of the world this mixitè expressed in an everyday style; some others have the opportunity to scream it to a wider audience.
This is what John Galliano, just rehabilitated on the runways, did for Martin Margiela Haute Couture colletion. He scrummed tales and stories of pirates and sailors, pants and tattoos as wore by dangerous convicts who become valuable work of sequins and glitter. Masculine elements that can enhance the more veiled femininity. Memoirs of a Geisha wrapped in luxurious kimonos and mini-dresses covered with stones.
All of the models have their faces covered. The focus is all on dresses. Bodies whose personality is hidden or shown in layers of fabrics, textures, prints and beautiful tailoring skills.
There will be those who’d like it and those who would not. Those who criticize and those who’d love him.
Everybody deserve to keep his own opinion, but Mr Galliano is certainly one of the most dreamlike and provocative man we will still have the chance to see at work..for sure. Welcome back Mr. Galliano!!!!
P.S. This is the preview of the collection he presented at the beginning of this week.
