The process of losing weight is usually one that is slow and tedious. Many people dread a nutritional and low-fat diet, and despise over-exerting themselves doing any kind of exercising. There are extreme lengths that people may go to in order to lose weight. Some people may even try acupuncture for weight loss. If you think that this might be something for you, don’t be afraid, it’s totally safe for anybody to try.

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medical procedure that involves the insertion of needles into various places on the patient’s body. This procedure is used to treat a diversity of conditions and ailments (mental and physical), including being overweight. Developed thousands of years ago as part of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), acupuncture is now practiced globally, including in the United States. Those who are qualified in this field are known as acupuncturist, and there are a range of degrees for this field.

In Chinese culture, it is believed that each human being has a mystical energy coursing through them referred to as “qi” (pr. “chee”). Qi is trolled along twelve hidden energy channels that are referred to as meridians. All of the meridians are linked byvarying organ systems. Whenever there is an imbalance in this system, and qi isn’t flowing correctly through the meridians, that’s when you’re vulnerable to disease and disorder. Through the method of inserting these acupuncture needles skillfully into specific acupuncture points on the patient, it is said to correct the imbalance of qi and to help cure whatever is ailing you.

Many people are skeptical about the competence of acupuncture, but this procedure is said (although with data that may not have been completely accurate) to have worked for some people who have suffered with the issue of losing weight, though not for all. The effect of acupuncture for weight loss supposedly curbs the appetite of someone who tends to overeat, which is classified as a mental disorder in those who have the problem. It’s an indication that there is a disturbance of qi. The successful patients were able to gradually lose weight through periodic treatments and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. There’s little scientific evidence to back a connection between acupuncture and weight loss however. No extensive research has been performed on this subject.
