The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court yesterday postponed for May 27 to deliver its judgment in respect of two cases filed against Shashi Weerawansa, wife of National Freedom Front (NFF) Leader and former Minister Wimal Weerawansa.

The verdict in the case was scheduled to be delivered yesterday after the evidence hearing of the plaintiff and the defendant was completed previously.

This is over an incident where Shashi Weerawansa had allegedly obtained two passports including a diplomatic passport by submitting forged documents to the Immigration and Emigration Department.

The CID had commenced an investigation against Shashi Weerawansa over the charge of obtaining diplomatic and general passports illegally. She had allegedly submitted birth certificates with forged names and dates of birth to obtain those passports. She is currently out on bail.

The Court has already concluded recording evidence from both prosecution and defence regarding this incident.
