Hello fellow geeks! Welcome to your weekly article on all Blu-Ray/4K Ultra HD/Digital film and television releases. While I won't be noting everything released for a particular week, I'll be highlighting some of the more notable ones. I'll also include a brief description of the film, the main actors/actresses and director, whether or not I've seen it, and a Rotten Tomatoes/MetaCritic score for those who like that kind of thing. Starring: Jason Statham, Jessica Alba, Tommy Lee Jones
What It's About: A sequel to the 2011 film, assassin Arthur Bishop (Statham) comes out of retirement when a mysterious woman recruits Bishop to kill three targets and make them look like accidents.
Rotten Tomatoes Score: Rotten at 26% Kubo and the Two Strings Director: Travis Knight
Starring: Charlize Theron, Rooney Mara, Art Parkinson, Matthew McConaughey
What It's About: Set in ancient Japan, the film revolves around Kubo, who has magical powers and whose left eye was stolen. Accompanied by Monkey and Beetle, they must subdue the Sisters, Raiden the Moon King, and his army of evil spirits.
Rotten Tomatoes Score: Certified Fresh at 97% Director: Todd Phillips
Starring: Miles Teller, Jonah Hill
What It's About: Based on true events, War Dogs follows Efraim Diveroli (Hill) and David Packouz, best friends who go into the arms business and swindle the government for a $300 million arms deal.
Have I Seen It: Yes. Just watched it. Fantastic.
Rotten Tomatoes Score: Fresh at 60% Director: David Mackenzie
Starring: Chris Pine, Jeff Bridges, Ben Foster
What It's About: Set in modern day Texas, this neo-Western has brothers Toby (Pine) and Tanner (Foster) robbing banks to save their cattle ranch from the bank that swindled their mother. Meanwhile Texas Ranger Marcus Hamilton (Jeff Bridges) tries to bring them to justice before his impending retirement.
Have I Seen It: Yes! Second best film I've seen this year behind Arrival. I haven't reviewed it by our own Slam Adams has. Read his review right here!
Rotten Tomatoes Score: Certified Fresh at 98% Starring: Lily-Rose Depp, Harley Quinn Smith,
What It's About: This horror-comedy film involves mini-Nazis that look like Bratwursts. The two Colleens (Depp and Smith) use their yoga skills to fight these Bratzis. I think there's some kind of plot in there somewhere?
Rotten Tomatoes Score: Rotten at 20% Director: Jonathan Jakubowicz
Starring: Robert De Niro, Edgar Ramirez
What It's About: The real life story of boxer Roberto Duran (Ramirez) pound for pound one of the best boxers of all time.
