Hello fellow geeks! Welcome to your weekly article on all Blu-Ray/4K Ultra HD/Digital film and television releases. While I won't be noting everything released for a particular week, I'll be highlighting some of the more notable ones. I'll also include a brief description of the film, the main actors/actresses and director, whether or not I've seen it, and a Rotten Tomatoes/MetaCritic score for those who like that kind of thing. Enjoy! Star Trek Beyond Director: Justin Lin Starring: Chris Pine, Karl Urban, Zachary Quinto What It's About: Captain Kirk and crew face a new enemy on an uncharted planet looking to take down the Federation. Have I Seen It: Yes. Read my review here! Rotten Tomatoes Score: Certified Fresh at 84% MetaCritic Score: 68 Director: Jon Lucas, Scott Moore Starring: Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn What It's About: After Amy (Kunis) finds out her husband is cheating on her with an online girlfriend, she unites with fellow Moms Kiki and Carla to have more fun and take down a stuck up PTA President. Have I Seen It: Yes. Rotten Tomatoes Score: Fresh at 60% MetaCritic Score: 60 Director: Barry Sonnenfeld Starring: Kevin Spacey, Jennifer Garner, Christopher Walken What It's About: Workaholic father Tom Brand (Spacey) crosses paths with a mysterious pet store owner named Felix Perkins (Walken) and purchases a cat named Mr. Fuzzypants. When an accident causes him to be trapped inside Mr. Fuzzypants, he must learn the value of-you know what this plot is so ridiculous I'm gonna stop here. Have I Seen It: Good God no. Rotten Tomatoes Score: Rotten at 11% MetaCritic Score: 11 Anthropoid Director: Sean Ellis Starring: Cillian Murphy, Jamie Dornan, Toby Jones What It's About: The true story of the assassination plot against Reinhard Heydrich, a high-ranking Nazi SS leader during WWII. Have I Seen It: No. Rotten Tomatoes Score: Fresh at 66% MetaCritic Score: 59 Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders Director: Rick Morales Starring: Adam West, Burt Ward, Julie Newmar What It's About: This animated feature is an extension of the campy 1960s television show. Joker, Riddler, Penguin, and Catwoman, collaborate into hatching a nefarious plot that would endanger Gotham City. It's up to Batman and Robin to thwart this plot and defeat the villains-even if it means going to space and back.
