Weekend

By Mmadalynne @mmadalynne

was about praying. I don’t consider myself a very religious person, but every night before I go to bed, I say one Hail Mary. I say that I’m not religious, but I am spiritual. I believe that someone is out there, whoever they may be, who listens to me. “Please help Kathy in her family situation,” “Give me the motivation to keep working hard,” “Thank you for helping me out in my workout this morning.” Big and little requests and statements, these are the types of things that I say. In the morning and with a fresh and clear mind, it’s interesting to reflect on where my mind was 12 or so hours prior. Recently, my nighttime recital has centered around the subject of thank you. There are a lot of big and exciting things in the works right now and I just can’t help but be thankful for my life. It’s been 3 1/2 years since I moved from sunny Ft. Lauderdale to what my dad called, Greyadelphia (Philadelphia). I started at A and I am now and at  M. I’m amazed at how far I’ve come, but can’t imagine what the rest of the alphabet is going to bring. Also, it’s been almost a year and a half since Madalynne because a sewing blog and just like my life, I’m utterly grateful for its path. It brought me to meet so many new people and find a place in this world that is unique me, Maddie. What’s both weird and cool is that my best friends nowadays aren’t the people I grew up with, but women I have met through my blog. I have a running email dialog with women like Lindsey, Bekuh, and Anto. Do you know how awesome that is? Thank you!

Oh, and I have an exciting weekend coming up too! A secretive project that I’ve been working on is one that involved me dyeing bamboo rayon and ashy purple using alkanet (a natural dye). Sallie, you’d be so proud! With the help of a blogger friend, I was completely taken out of my sewing comfort zone, but I liked it! The dress I made from the fabric is complete and tomorrow, we are photographing it. The props have been made and I’m ready for a killer, Halloween-themed shoot. Stay tuned!
