Week One 2013 East Coast Spring Teaching Tour

**** warning  – lots of photos   *****

I left Florida Monday March 4 early in the morning on the start of my 2013 East Coast Spring Teaching Tour.   The first day is always the longest and is nothing but driving…and driving…and more driving.   Heck, it takes 4 hours for me just to get out of Florida!!   My first day out was a gorgeous day.   The skies were as blue as they could be and the traffic was good to me.   I said goodbye to flat land that is flat as the eye can see in Florida.

Stopped that night at the Virginia Welcome Center and my SUV gave me a warning to drive carefully as the roads may ice!  Living in Florida, I had never heard my SUV say that before.   Thanks for the warning, Silver (yes, I call my SUV Silver).

The next morning, I headed on into Ashburn, VA just outside Washington DC to teach my first class of this tour at Angela’s Happy Stamper.   My first class was playing with encaustic wax and Purple Cows’ new Melt tool!   We had such a great time.

We were warned of a snowstorm, named Saturn, that was expected the next day.  Fortunately, I had a day to spare, so we rescheduled classes.  I got back to my hotel just in time before the snow started.

…and the next morning, it snowed, and snowed, and snowed some more.   You can tell from the photos that I just took the time to enjoy the downtime and stayed in my room.  It was a wet and slushy snow, so not real fun to play in or drive in.

It finally stopped late that afternoon and I braved the elements to go eat dinner with my cousin and his family. I treasure these moments and love that I can mix business with pleasure.

The next day, I was back at Angela’s Happy Stamper and teaching Viva Décor Us and PanPastels!   Again, a wonderfully great bunch of gals.   We got messy, we laughed, we played, and we had a great time.

That night I went back to my cousin’s so spend a little time before back on the road Friday.   On my way to Pennsylvania.

I actually enjoy the driving part, especially now that I have XM Radio and don’t have to keep searching for a station.  The countryside is just gorgeous through Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.

New state signs to add to my growing collection!!!

I taught all day Saturday at a gorgeous store just north of Lancaster, Pennsylvania (and I was taught how to say that correctly).   Pages in Time is in Lititz, PA and Ame Groff was a wonderful hostess.   She has so much great stuff in her store and has recently found the love of Art Journaling.

Sunday morning, I took the scenic route along Old Pennsylvania Pike into Philadelphia and saw even more gorgeous country and many Amish families out.   Here are some pictures of my Sunday drive.

I couldn’t have asked for a better day.

Well, I’ll stop here.   If I met you along the way, I thank you for attending my classes and making me laugh and showing me a great time.   If I missed you, hopefully we’ll see each other next time.

I can’t wait to share week 2 with you.  Week 2 is a special week for me and you’ll see why.  You can get a sneak peek if you follow me on Facebook at Cheryl’s Window Facebook Page.

Thanks for stopping by,
