I thought I'd start off by including last week's drawing for a free race registration (5k, 10k, half marathon or full marathon) for the 2015 Cleveland Marathon weekend since there's a little time still left to register:
a Rafflecopter giveawayIf you haven't registered yet, enter the drawing and if you win, you can take it as your "meant to be" sign, right?
Before I report on my Cleveland Half Marathon training, I am pleased to report on this hot news - the toenail I blackened back in January or February finally fell off. The good news? The nail underneath it has grown out enough that I think I might be able to actually get a pedicure! YAY!
Okay, sorry about that possible "TMI" news.... now onto training......
Monday - I woke up early and ran 3 miles before work. This was actually kind of surprising because I really don't do Mondays well to begin with, along with the fact that I knew after I worked all day I would have to leave work and dash off to church to play drums for a service that night. I made it through the day, but wow, was I tired!
Tuesday - I worked all day like a crazy person - I'm a real estate closer and things are definitely picking up. I left work in Venice (FL) and headed down to Punta Gorda (FL) to run with my friend, Jan. It was way too hot and I was way too cranky from work, but I honored my commitment and we pressed on and finished 3 miles.
Wednesday - I didn't run, but I caught up on some desperately needed sleep.
Thursday - I woke up early and semi-refreshed, and did 4 miles on the dreadmill, er, I mean the treadmill. Then I worked all day and had band practice for the weekend church services. (I'm not sure if people actually realize what a workout playing the drums really is, but I wore my Fitbit and saw that in one hour of playing drums I had "walked" over 5,000 steps!)
I, unfortunately, couldn't attend the Cleveland Marathon Ambassador meet-up due to band practice. I'm not skilled in PhotoShop, so you won't see my face on the ambassador photo op at the meetup on Thursday, but I really do wish I could have been there. If you want to learn about the other race ambassadors, be sure to check them out --> HERE!
Friday - I didn't run.
Saturday - I participated in the Shark's Tooth 10k in Venice (FL). I did much better than I thought I'd do, and the last 3 miles were nearly identical timewise. While I wasn't fast by any means, I felt stronger and I felt that I had much more stamina. When I finished the 10k, I wasn't panting like a dog desperate for a chair. I was very happy with the results. I was also happy with the "bling"! Because I had done the Frosty 5k in December, and the Suncoast Half Marathon in January, by completing the Shark's Tooth 10k, I completed the 22.4 Challenge and earned an extra medal at the race!!
Later in the afternoon, I headed back to church for a final quick praise team practice and then stayed and played on praise team for the 6pm contemporary service.
Sunday - I was on the praise team for both the 9:30am service and the 11am service. I came home and "cross-trained" by mowing, weed whacking and blowing the front yard, and then using the heavy duty tools to cut down the jungle in the vacant lot behind our fence that was pushing the boards off!
Besides smashing my finger while playing the drums and scratching myself all up in the weeds, overall, the weekend was a big workout! I was participating in a Fitbit Weekend Warrior challenge with a few of my friends and I was winning right up through the yard work, but by evening, one of my friends had surpassed me and won the challenge! Congrats to her, boooo for me!
Okay, I'll update you all next week on my training for the Cleveland Half Marathon!
