Wednesdays Unplugged - Blue Cheese Burgers

"Nothing is really work unless you would rather be doing something else.” ~ James M. Barrie

NOTE: I spend my Wednesdays Unplugged from appointments. It's my day to stay home, enjoy cooking and welcome our kids and grandkids for dinner in the evening. We end our meal with quotes from the Norwegian 'Quote Cup' passed on to me from my grandmother. I share a quote and a recipe here each week, and sometimes some photos of family fun. I love trying new recipes...and love getting recipes you would like to share!

We celebrated our daughter's new job last weekend with dinner at Benihana Japanese steak house... also had grandkids over engrossed in a movie... and toured James J. Hill House in St. Paul. After pouring rains, Saturday was a beautiful day!

RECIPE OF THE WEEK

Today was perfect for celebrating the first Wednesday of summer... picked up fresh muskmelon and corn on the cob at 'Sweet Corn and More', and grilled burgers. These blue cheese burgers got rave reviews.

BLUE CHEESE BURGERS

  • 2 2/3 - 3 pounds lean ground beef
  • 4 ounces blue cheese, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup minced fresh chives
  • 1/4 teaspoon tabasco sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard

Mix all ingredients in a large bowl. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours to let flavors blend.

Preheat grill for high heat. Form mixture into patties and grill about 5 minutes per side, until done. Serve on hamburger buns.
