Wedding in Greece - Nafplio Romance- Champagne and Cup Cake

By Olympia Giannopoulou @MarryMecomgr

Lauren and Greg met in Afghanistan during their work there. They fell in love immediately and as per Lauren's testimony she new form the first moment  that he was the "one" as she  said "I knew when I felt unlike I had ever felt before, when I felt complete and understood"

After being together for one year, while in Portugal in a holiday trip in a relaxing mutual conversation Greg proposed to Lauren. Lauren accepted and made Greg the happiest person in the world.

Since they still have one year to be in Afghanistan they decided to have a destination wedding and honeymoon in Greece. Lauren did some search and finally decided to have their wedding in Nafplion. Actually I was surprised when Lauren in her initial email asked for Nafpion. I was more than happy to start planning their wedding in this romantic city, the long history and the beautiful architecture.

The wedding was a civil wedding and  took place in the local Nafplion town hall, which is centrally located into the town.  The couple with their friends arrived on time for the ceremony and the bride looked stunning into her white dress.  Here Lauren tell us about her dress "I knew I wanted a simple, knee length dress. I picked it online from Davids Bridal.   I have used Davids Bridal several times in the past for formal balls and knew they were also top of the line". Lauren had a hair and make up artist in her hotel room Amfitrion - Nafplion, a local vendors, doing an amazing work.

Lauren's  bridal bouquet was designed  based off the colors that she liked.

She  was wearing  a tanzanite tennis bracelet, tanzanite earrings and a tanzanite necklace and also  blue heels so that everything matched. This jewelry was Greg's present for the wedding in Greece.

The best part of the ceremony for Lauren was " Saying I do to the man I love". Also  she said that Marryme in Greece created a wedding for us they way we wanted.  Here are the exact words "The fact that it was simple and exactly what Greg and I wanted. The staff also was amazing".

The ceremony was simple a austere, one guest flew from USA and some friends from Athens they attended the civil ceremony in Nafplion. Following the ceremony a small cozy party took place as all the guests and the local staff were offered champagne and delicious cup cakes.
After the couple signed their marriage certificate, they went with their photographer and the guests to have some photos around Nafplion city and a small reception in a traditional local restaurant took place. The couple will throw a wedding party, when they get back in New York next year.

After the wedding civil ceremony,  as the couple was coming out of the town hall, bumped into a Vietnamese tourists and took some pictures with them and of course Yiannis Sotiropoulos immediately immortalize the moment.
Lauren says about her photographer  "Yiannis was suggested to us by Olympia. I looked at his work and all his reviews and he seemed perfect. Upon meeting Yiannis, he described what he was going to do and was very professional but very real at the same time. He just wanted us to be ourselves and not pose. He was a pleasure to work with.
Although there was no color theme was involved in this destination wedding in Greece, with the amazing work of Yiannis, this wedding came out so colorful.
Finally here is Lauren's advise to other brides: "Don’t let anyone tell you how to do YOUR wedding. Make it about you and your future husband firstly and the details come second. If your American, and get married in Greece, start the paperwork at least 2 months in advance.
