We're Well Up For The Woodgrains ...

Like something we can't really put much of a comparison to, The Woodgrains have charged in with their debut single from their self-titled debut album ... and it's called Nobody Too. The closest contemporary comparison we reckon we could make would be The Kaiser Chiefs or Arctic Monkeys in how they sound ... but even that is pretty far away, otherwise it would obviously have to be the likes of The Beatles. Anyway, this blend of Indie/Americana is absolutely insane.
The talent you'll hear throughout is astonishing. The way in which the riffs shove you this way and that, and then, the vocal which, though not to a technical standard, really pulls it all together and offers some really old-school, but very coveted rock 'n' roll that we can see masses and masses enjoying.
We can't say we know much about this band, or what they stand for, but we know that they have some incredible harmonies going on, some psychedelic rock that we thoroughly enjoy, and a sound that is unlike anything you're going to hear from any commercial musician this side of the century ... and that's a real niche market at the moment that could get these guys to the big time.
It's evident, from the shouts and 'bloopers' in the background of the song, that these guys are very much about raw ability, and don't mind if some of their fun and antics happen to get on the track. They're utterly refreshing in that respect and, despite the one flaw we find with this track, the fun factor and feel of it all, really marks the beginning of something we believe could end up going huge!!
Our only qualm, which we touched on briefly, is how the song ends. The slow-mo parts seem to go in and out of tune from time to time and, whilst we know it is only brief, it's a little niggle that we think could easily be rectified. Otherwise though, they've hit the nail on the head here, and the sounds come alive in the incredible riffs they master for your very ears.
Paul.
