WE D.O.A.: Hip-Hop Music That Deserves Recognition

Women sure know how to put a good thing together.  These three men met through their girlfriends and would go on to start an amazing hip-hop group called We D.O.A. (Dayton Ohio Authorized).  As you've probably concluded, this group is from Dayton, Ohio.  The thing that makes this group unique is their hip-hop roots mixed with acoustic guitar and singing.  With their debut album self-titled "We D.O.A.", they make you reminisce to when you were younger and first discovered hip-hop.  When albums had interludes and skits in between songs, when the songs were genuine and from the heart, not just talking about having big game, big cars, and swimming in bottles of dom.  These are songs everyone can relate to, written from the heart of men who really lived what they are rapping/singing about.  These generous men have their album available for free to download at http://www.reverbnation.com/wedoa937 or if you follow them on twitter @Wedoa937A and DM them your address, they will gladly send you a CD.
Influenced by anyone from Wu-Tang Clan to Willy Nelson, We D.O.A. can really put a song together.  Whether you like or dislike hip-hop, I guarantee you there is a song on their album that will appeal to you.  For hip-hop lovers, take a listen to their song We D.O.A. or Born.  For the acoustic song lovers, try out Death of a Dream.  The trio itself is made up of Mo' Shines, Dubb Chief, and Black Illusion.  Dubb Chief's girlfriend introduced him to Black Illusion, then a couple years later Mo' Shines girlfriend introduced him to Black Illusion.  Once the guys got together, they realized they had something with Mo' Shines' background with guitar and singing/songwriting, and Dubb Chief and Black Illusions' style of rapping/singing/songwriting.  Once they got together in a room, songs flowed through them immediately.  They fuel each other to make greater things each time and the lyrics just flow from pen to paper.  Without Dubb Chief and Black Illusion, WE D.O.A. would not be possible and the hooks wouldn't look as good, they get the electric flowing through Mo' Shines and that electricity gives the whole room a buzz that has never been felt before.  They are out-of-the-box, mixing an acoustic vibe with an early 90's hip-hop flare.  This group writes and performs their music straight out of the love for it, they don't care if there is just one person in the audience or thousands.

They self-promote through various social media outlets and playing shows at a bar called One Eyed Jack's in Ohio.  They give out CD's, walk to every bar and hand out full press kits, or hit the streets just to get the word out.  We D.O.A. does all the hard work on their own, trying to get their voice and sound heard.  Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, and Reverbnation have helped them spread the word outside of Dayton, Ohio.  That's how I got in touch with and got to know these amazing men with their meaningful songs, through Twitter.  Social media is a wonderful thing, it worked for the better in this case!  I listened to their songs on Reverbnation (where they are ranked #15 in Dayton, Ohio) and I was immediately hooked.

They're not ganstas, not hustlers, not pimps, they are just guys who grew up in Dayton around the way and push their message:  fight for what's right, stay strong and live your life, no injustice in the world, have positivity, stay true to yourself, and above all, have a great time!  They are already working on their next album so check them out, spread the word, and hurry up and download their first album while it's still free!  This amazing group of lyricists are going places and fast, pretty soon we will be hearing them on your favorite radio station.
