Muntjac
As we near the beginning of winter our forests look bare with the trees having lost nearly all of their leaves. This however, reveals a world that has been under-cover for the rest of year and all sorts of animal signs begin to appear from birds' nests in the trees, to the corridors in the undergrowth that are used by small mammals so they can move about unseen.
Not only are some animals already thinking about hibernation but others are preparing for winter in a different way as their colours change from greys and browns to a bright white, which helps them to camouflage themselves more easily into the coming snow. Large flocks of birds can also be seen as numerous individuals come over to Britain for the winter from the continent.
