Watch of The Week: Ballon Bleu De Cartier

By Raymondleejewelers @raymondleejwlrs

Today our featured watch is the Ballon Bleu de Cartier. And this watch is so sleek, so gracefully magical that we should really be writing this love letter in its native tongue, but we don’t speak French, c’est dommage. But we’re happy to sing the praises of the Ballon Bleu de Cartier in any language, it’s such a gorgeous watch.

This stainless steel version is the Ballon Bleu in its most basic element. Its deceptively light stainless steel bracelet has the boxy links native to Cartier watches & it makes a great foil for the all around round case.

The case itself is convex on both the sapphire crystal and the case back. This slight elevation gives the watch the illusion of floating on the wrist from the side & gives the dial a fish-eye appearance (in a great way).

The guilloche dial itself is handsomely appointed in silver with steely blue sword hands and numeral markers. Another whimsical touch is the numeral markers’ slight distortion around the crown.

The fluted crown, housed in its own little “bubble” is set with a spinel cabochon. The slight protrusion only adds to the watch’s character, and at 42 millimeters, its personality is sure to be felt.
