Watch Dogs 2 Will “push” the Profiler System Further

Watch Dogs 2 will build on the interesting but ultimately underused  Profiler feature.
It feels like there’s so much potential in the idea, and according to Watch Dogs creative director Jonathan Morin, Ubisoft is on the case for the inevitable Watch Dogs 2.
“You want to continue to push those systems to embrace more of the fantasies of becoming a vigilante. We’ll see where that goes as we communicate what the future of the brand is. There’s definitely space for expression there,” he told Digital Spy at D.I.C.E. Europe 2014.
Referring back to a presentation in which he said he wants Watch Dogs to enable users to enjoy their own emergent experiences, and not be railroaded by authored story lines, Morin said Ubisoft has to be careful how it develops the Profiler.
“We need to find the right balance where we need to push that further, without closing it, without closing the door and making a crafted story,” he said.
“We have a huge opportunity to have something that’s quite unique there, and the way you can pass if you want, systemic contextual narrative in the world. You can humanise the people around you. That I definitely see as the beginning of something that is quite unique and could push the industry forward.”
Morin said Ubisoft has ideas for how to “push” the Profiler, and is currently trying “crazy stuff”, but it’s too early to talk about it just yet.
