Amazon Prime released the Coming 2 America official trailer last week and I'm just now getting to post about it.
In the sequel to the beloved original 1988 comedy, King Jaffe (James Earl Jones) is on his deathbed and advises son Prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy) that he will soon take over the throne. But as the line of succession is poised to change, new information arises about the prince's past.
"Akeem, it appears you have a son who must be found," the king tells him. And so it's back to America for another adventure.
"Oh hell no, your majesty," replies his sidekick, Semmi (Arsenio Hall).
Back in New York, the duo encounters some new faces: actors Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, Jermaine Fowler, Teyanna Taylor and KiKi Layne.
For all the new faces, there are still plenty of old ones: namely, the many faces of Murphy. In a reprise of his iconic multi-character scene, Akeem returns to the same barbershop he visited more than 30 years ago, again greeted by multiple characters played by the comedian himself.
The sequel starts streaming on Amazon Prime March 5, 2021.
