The VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX2 is a multimedia hub instead of a fitness and activity tracker for kids. While this smartwatch combines its multimedia functions with a durable and visually appealing design, its battery does not last long.

The VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX2 has a 1.4-inch display screen with a 128 by 128 resolution and a touchscreen feature. There are also two cameras located on the watch's face. The first camera is centered at the watch's top, while the second camera is located at the watch's edge.

There is the home button on the left of the display screen, while the left side holds both the camera button and a USB port. This USB port allows you to charge the VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX2, transfer files from the watch to a computer or connect to the VTech Learning Lodge App store via your computer.

Finally, you have the power button situated at the back of the watch.

  • Possesses time-telling features
  • There is also the Speak Time function
  • Has a camera for taking pictures and recording videos
  • It has an activity mode feature

There are numerous features on the VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX2. The first feature is its time telling features. The VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX2 has three different options for time display. They include 3D, 55 Analog, and Digital options. It also allows kids to take a picture and turn the picture into the new custom time face.
If the child is too young to read the time, there is a speak time feature that verbalizes the time when you touch the clock icon on the watch face.

Finally, there is a Time Master Feature, designed to teach children how to read the time. If you set a time within this mode, the watch will verbalize the time, and from there, your child can learn how to read the time.
The multimedia feature is the major offering of this smartwatch. The VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX2 has a camera with 640 by 480 resolution for pictures and 320 by 240 or 120 by 60 resolution for video recording (records at 15 frames per seconds).

The VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX2 only allows for one minute video at once. Therefore, its 256MB memory can hold 22 minutes of low-resolution videos and 10 minutes of high-resolution video. It can also hold 1520 pictures; thus, kids can take numerous photographs and video recordings.

As said earlier, there are two cameras, so users can record or take pictures of themselves and their environment. The selfie camera's addition to the VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX2 is the main difference between the smartwatch and its predecessor, VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX.

The VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX2 also allows you to transfer videos and pictures taken by your children with the smartwatch to your computer. However, the photographs and video may not be as clear on your computer as it was on the smartwatch.

There is also a resemblance of an activity tracker on the VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX2 with a pedometer. However, the pedometer is not accurate and was included for fun. There is also an Activity Mode that encourages children to be on their feet. The Activity Mode's first function is the Crazy Dance, which plays a song, and a character on the display screen tries to mimic the user's dancing steps.

The Running Race feature involves the user running while the character tries to mimic the action. The last feature is the Funky Jump, where kids jump, and the character again tries to mirror the action.

  • Easy to use
  • Resets time and date whenever switched on

When you switch on the VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX2, you would have to set the time and the date. After doing this, you can start using the smartwatch without any hassle. The interface is easy to use for kids of any age. While little kids may require a little help with the camera, the other feature is really easy to access.

The power switch located at the back of the smartwatch is small, which is understandable as kids can tamper with it if it is larger and easily accessible. However, you would have to set the time anytime you turn the switch on or off. This can be a bit stressful for children.

  • The battery lasts for about 2 to 3 days
  • Charges fully for three hours

The battery of the VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX2 is not as strong as it should be. The battery lasts for about 2 to 3 days of constant usage. For a smartwatch with few features and functions, the battery life is a bit poor.
However, the upside is that you get a fully charged battery (from 0 to 100) under 3 hours. The USB port designed for file transfer also functions as the charging port.

Special for Parents (Parental Control)

The VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX2 has parental control settings that allow parents to set timers for games on the smartwatch. The time you can set includes 15, 30, 60, or 90 minutes. This function was designed to help you manage your child's playtime. However, there is no complexity in the parental control setting. If your child is tech-savvy, he or she can undo these settings.

Also, there is a VTech Learning Lounge where you can download more games and activities for your child's smartwatch. You can use the USB port to connect to a PC and download the games into the smartwatch.
