Voices by David Waters

By Pamelascott

Voices from around the world - stories of events that have shaped people's lives, told in their own voices. From spies recording secret musical archives to love stories in detention centres, falls from the sky and emerging from repressed trauma - these are stories of things that can change a life's path for better or worse.

I enjoyed listening to this audio show. The episodes varied in length and I think it would have been better if the episodes had been the same length, around 30 mins. The last few episodes are only 6 or 7 minutes long. I felt these were too short. I wanted the stories of each to expand. Some of the stories are incredibly sad but they each have a ring of hope that no matter how sucky the odds you'll find a way out. The best episodes were Sibo and Maureen about two women in a detention centre who fall in love, Under Ice about a woman recovering from sexual abuse and Leader of the Bathroom Seminars about an anthropologist whose life is changed by a child who is terminally ill and dies.
