Chinese smartphone company Vivo has been going strength to strength with its latest and innovative smartphones. A few days back we did an exclusive coverage that Vivo is working on a phone with half-screen-fingerprint-technology. Vivo now has announced its concept phone Vivo APEX FullView Concept Smartphone which has 98% screen to body ratio, highest in the world, and in-display-fingerprint-technology that converts half the display into a fingerprint sensor.
Following the launch of Vivo X20 Plus UD, which is worlds first mass-produced In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Smartphone, Vivo has introduced Vivo Apex which has thinnest bezels on any smartphone. With 98% screen to body ratio, Vivo Apex is actually the true bezel-less smartphone.
By transforming the entire bottom half of the OLED screen to a fingerprint sensor, users can interact with any part of the bottom half of the screen to perform fingerprint recognition, enabling a more flexible and intuitive experience.
Further, Vivo has introduced screen soundcasting technology that transforms the entire FullView Display into a speaker. This new technology sends sound vibrations directly through the display without needing a traditional loudspeaker.
To keep the phone truly bezel-less and manage a mind-bogglingly high screen to body ratio, Vivo has also integrated an 8MP front camera which elevates in 0.8 seconds when required and retracts after use.
Vivo APEX deploys a new System in Package (SIP) technology to integrate the DAC and the three operational amplifiers together, reducing the need for circuit board space by nearly 60% compared to the previous Xplay6. As this frees up more space in the smartphone’s interior, this technology can allow for increased battery size as well as cooling, thus opening the potential for even more design improvements in future smartphones.
Commenting on the same, Alex Feng, Senior Vice President of Vivo said, “APEX is an iteration of our constant pursuit of setting new industry standards and to deliver the ultimate mobile experience. From breakthroughs in audio, photography to In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology, Vivo has remained committed to realizing our vision for future smartphones. What we showcase in this concept phone is only a fraction of our innovation pipeline. We will continue to explore all possibilities to bring the best possible experiences for our consumers.”
