The blissful vivid colors of fireworks roofed Kuala Lumpur skyline which marks the most anticipated commencement of the biggest and grandest tourism campaign, the Visit Malaysia Grand Launch 2014 on January 4, 2014 in Dataran Merdeka. Celebrating 1Malaysia Truly Asia is this year’s theme – a reflection of Malaysia’s rich cultural and heritage diversity, as well as its peace, stability and warm Malaysian hospitality.
Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister YAB Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Muhyiddin Mohd Yassin officiated the fourth edition of the Visit Malaysia campaign, themed “Celebrating 1Malaysia Truly Asia”. The Deputy Prime Minister urged all Malaysians regardless of their ethnicity and backgrounds to come together and provide their support in ensuring the success of the Visit Malaysia 2014 in line with the “We Are The Host (Heart, Open, Smile, Together)” concept with the essence of being a great host by welcoming tourists with open arms and helping them bring home pleasant memories.
The historical square was clad with a big stage set as the myriad of activities – amazing ‘building mapping’ presentations on the façade of the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, astounding cultural dance performances tied with penetrating musical extravagance.
The crowd also enjoyed the interesting line-up of programme kicked off as early as 10:00 am and these include insects exhibitions, caricature life drawing, handicraft sales, batik drawing and food stalls featuring signature dishes from 14 states of Malaysia.
Vocal powerhouse divas like Dato Siti Nurhaliza, Datuk Khadijah also serenaded the crowd; among other popular artists are Amy Search, Azlan, Datuk Jamal Abdillah, Nash & The Typewriter, Hafiz, Najwa Latif.
The day – long grand celebration estimated a turnout of more than 50,000 local and foreign crowd and a big success.
This tourism campaign is targeting 28 million tourist arrivals corresponding to RM76 billion returns.
