When we read the Spoon, Defne enjoyed it so much she took it to school the very next day. Her teacher is so lovely, read it aloud in the class and Defne said her friends enjoyed it, too.
This Plus That: Life's Little Equations must be one of the best children's books I have come across. It is not a story book. I love the way it encourages creativity through maths.
Each equation is clever and inspirational and accompanied by beautiful illustrations. Some of Defne's favorite equations are:
chalk + jumping = hopscotch anything + sprinkles = better balloon + wind = lost
I asked Defne (5years 10 months) to come up with her own equations. She wrote them on the easel:
