There are realistic hopes that Team GB’s sensational performance at the London 2012 Olympic Games (22 gold medals and counting) will inspire a generation of Brits to take up sport and live more active, healthy lives. The example to youngsters provided by the likes of Jessica Ennis, Mo Farah and Sir Chris Hoy certainly has the potential to boost (flagging) participation in sports which, in turn, would assist in the battle against obesity.

Whether the Olympics will have a lasting legacy on Britons health is yet to be seen but the Games have already sponsored some unsporty couch potatoes types to get up of the couch and host their own Olympic Games.
