VINTAGE Rx // Off The Shoulder Puff Sleeve Top

By Styleofsam @styleofsam

I have been DYING to do this post! Y'all KNOW that I LOVE vintage pieces, and I found this 80s Jan Barboglio off the shoulder balloon sleeved top last summer at Vintage Martini in Dallas. How could I resist the ruffles, the puff, the volume, and the color?! LOL! It's so funny when I spot something like this. Immediately, I envision all of the ways that it can be worn and my mind starts daydreaming into La La Land. There were two other gals shopping and they snickered at the top saying that they could never wear it.

Many times, a clothing item may not look great on the hanger but will knock your socks off when you actually try it on! My rule: If it looks interesting at all, I take it to the dressing room.

Distressed skinny jeans balanced the voluminous top and give the look a bit of edge. I tied a skinny leather belt around my neck as a choker to keep a clean silhouette and accentuate the shoulders. Mirrored sunglasses keep the outfit on-trend. To keep the look focused on the top, I also pulled my hair back. (This is also a trick I use for dirty hair days!)

THE STYLE Rx: Don't be afraid to try on things that look so-so on the hanger. You may be pleasantly surprised. AND do try the off-the-shoulder trend! Shoulders look good on all ages ( as seen here)!

The great thing about this top is that it is back "in trend" now even though it's from the eighties. That's the funny thing about fashion. It cycles and everything comes back around. Who knew that something from the eighties would be relevant now?!
