Vin Diesel Strikes a Schwarzenegger Pose on the Poster for Universal Studio’s New Fast & Furious Attraction

Earlier this week, Universal announced that Universal Studios will premiere a Fast & Furious-themed ride in 2017, just in time to coincide with the release of the next sequel in the franchise which has racked up $3.89 billion in worldwide ticket sales since 2001.  According to EW, the ride will be a stand-alone attraction in the Florida location; its California incarnation (Fast & Furious Supercharged), which opened this summer, is part of the Universal Studios Hollywood tram tour.  The new ride will have its own original storyline that incorporates the cars from the films, and the Universal Studios Orlando resort blog promises “you’ll be immersed in the underground racing world made famous in the films and explore the headquarters of Toretto and his team. Then, you’ll board specially-designed vehicles for an adrenaline-pumping ride with your favorite stars from the films.”

I pass all of this along simply because it gives me an excuse to pose the following question:

Am I the only one who looks at the poster for Fast & Furious Supercharged

And instantly thinks of Last Action Hero?

Maybe it’s just the way Vin Diesel appears to be holding on to the bottom of the airplane just like Arnold has a firm grip on the leg of the helicopter.  Plus, the way both seem to incorporate the actual audience into the picture, which makes sense since one is a poster for an attraction on a tram tour and the other is for a movie about an action hero who literally walks off the screen and into the real world.   Or maybe I see Last Action Hero everywhere right now since I’m currently researching it for another article for the site.

I’ll leave you to ponder my superficial comparisons as well as the realization that Vin Diesel is kind of the new Arnold.
