Sometimes when you are set on a sunny summer wedding, and you know that Old Blighty just can’t make any promises, you know that Italy can nearly guarantee a scorcher! Well Anna & Mark’s Villa Catignano wedding had the most perfect weather imaginable. Nestled in the beautiful Tuscan countryside, Villa Catignano was an absolutely perfect backdrop for a day full of sunshine, laugher and shades! The Tuscan countryside has long been a favorite holiday destination for Anna & Mark and so they decided that a charming 17th century villa & farmhouse was the perfect spot for their outdoor ceremony. We fell in love with the peach plaster walls and the fading frescos on the walls of the rooms. There were vines growing on vines and even a beautifully sculptured hedge maze which overlooked the rolling country hills.
Luck was with us all day and even during the ceremony when the sunshine might have gotten a bit too intense – the clouds swooped in and saved the day – rolling in and out just for the duration of the ceremony and only enough to create the right amount of shade. The priest conducting the ceremony was the loveliest fella and the staff at Villa Catingnao just couldn’t do enough for everyone and at the same time had that lovely, relaxed Mediterranean approach to the day.
The evening reception was held out in the courtyard and was decked in festoons as far as the eye could see – it was a photographer’s dream location. Anna & Mark even popped away for a few sunset photos out on the hills before re-joining their guests for speeches and cake. Dancing took place inside the villa with beautiful arched ceilings just perfect for creating an intimate party atmosphere and the day was finished off with sky lanterns (and a fair bit of shenanigans getting them lit!)
