Very quick background- At the National Prayer Breakfast, with Barack Obama sitting just seats away, Dr. Ben Carson spoke on a number of topics, many of his views were directly contrary to Obama's policies.
Casron spoke out against Obama's class warfare rhetoric, saying you make $10 billion you put in a billion, you make $10 you put in a dollar, course you gotta get rid of the loopholes. " He received sustained applause and Obama looked very uncomfortable.
Then he continued with Some people say, they
say, ‘Well, that’s not fair because it doesn’t hurt the guy who made $10
billion as much as the guy who made 10,’” Carson said. “[But] where
does it say you have to hurt the guy? He just put a billion dollars in
the pot!
“We don’t need to hurt him,” Carson continued. “It’s that kind of
thinking that has resulted in 602 banks in the Cayman Islands. That
money needs to be back here, building our infrastructure and creating
jobs.” On his top-rated radio program, host Rush Limbaugh praised
Carson’s speech as “plain English, simple, rational, understandable,
straight to the point, minces no words.”
A three minute video of that portion of the speech, showing Obama's reactions, can be found on a previous WuA piece, along with a link to the whole 27 minute speech.
On Friday, Carson appeared on Fox News' "Hannity" to explain why he felt
compelled to speak out against the big government policies endorsed by
Obama, in front of Obama.
Carson, a renown neurosurgeon, said the
response to his speech has been "overwhelmingly" positive. However, he
argued he didn't make a conservative argument, but rather a "logical"
and "common-sense" one.
