Happy Tuesday! Today is my second last day of vacation and I plan on taking full advantage of it. Since it's shitty outside.. and raining.. I've decided I will be sipping tea, watching tv, reading, doing Holistic Nutritional Case Studies and reading some blogs today..... and possibly paint my nails. Sounds perfect, right? Because it totally is. First up though, I think I'm going to make myself a berry smoothie. Yesterday I made one that included some leftover watermelon, and I'm not sure what I thought about it...
It included a banana, some watermelon, some fresh strawberries and some frozen berries as well as coconut milk, chia/flax seed powder and some vanilla protein. I think I've come to the conclusion that I don't like watermelon in anything, I just like it plain, the way nature intended us to eat it. I've tried juicing watermelon on more than 1 occasion and was less than pleased with the results. Wah wahh.. It made my smoothie... taste different. I don't really know how to explain it, but I won't be putting watermelon in my smoothies going forward!
Yesterday I couldn't pass up the beautiful weather (and after looking at today I'm glad I didn't!) so when Jenny (my old workout buddy and former co-worker and dear friend that I miss a ton!) asked if I wanted to hang out, I jumped at the opportunity! She took the subway down to my area and we met up and went on a beautiful walk and out for lunch. I took her to Liberty Village, a little area in Toronto that she had never been before and my main stomping grounds on my spare time. We made our first stop at Vibrant Lifestyle, the health food store there. I love it there - it's so cute, so quiet and they actually have a classroom where you can take cooking lessons! I totally want to take one someday and tell you all about it!
If you're ever in Liberty Village, you need to stop in and check out all of the fun things they have in there. It's like Christmas every time I go in! Here's what I picked up on my trip yesterday..
I picked up some sample packets of Vega, because I remember trying their French Vanilla flavor and didn't really like it, so before I commit to buying a huge container of it, I want to be sure I'm going to enjoy it. I plan on putting one of the packets into my smoothie this morning! So I also got some micro green Kombucha since my Strawberry Kombucha is almost done. I almost actually bought a Kombucha starter kit, but I don't think I currently have the space in the fridge for it, so I passed unfortunately. I grabbed a sample packet of raw chocolate coconut butter which I'm DYING to eat.... I had to put it away so I didn't just eat it with a spoon... and then some Pumpkin Super Chips! They are little chips of seeds! They are pretty good! I had a couple last night and loved them!
After we were done there, we decided to hit up Live Food Bar for some vegan goodness for lunch. This is the place I went to last week, where I got my original bottle of kombucha and a vegan salad... I love Live. The place is decorated in ALL white, it's gorgeous. You can buy pre-made salads or other dishes such as raw vegan lasagna, stir fry or even mini vegan pudding's for dessert. Then they have food that you have to order. I got their Sunshine Wrap. The wrap they make themselves and it's gluten free and vegan and it was filled with hummus, lettuce, tomatoes, sprouts... basically all veggies and then it came with a side of cabbage slaw. SO GOOD.
Jenny got a vegan burrito! I took a picture of it, but didn't Instagram it. Lol.
I'm not sure what her's was filled with, but she did keep repeating how amazing it was, so it must have been good :). Jenny caught the street car after lunch and I made my way back home. It was SO good to see her!! I haven't seen her since our friends birthday a month or so ago... we definitely need to meet up more often and I think we're going to start - THANK GOD. Catching up on all of our gossip was like a therapy session hahaha!
Want to know one of the main reasons I love Liberty Village? Check out the view.
Gorgeous right?
A shameless selfie on the walk home. AND look who was home to meet me when I got back? We literally watched tv in bed from like 6-8 haha. It was perfect.
Q: How did you get out and enjoy the beautiful weather yesterday?
