Venus Williams Reportedly Found At Fault for A Fatal Car Crash

TMZ says that the police in Palm Beach Gardens, FL are pointing fingers at Venus Williams, tennis star and soon-to-be aunt to a tennis-playing Reddit baby, for causing a car crash that sent a 78-year-old man to the ICU where he later died. The crash is still under investigation and so far Venus hasn’t been charged with anything and she hasn’t been issued any kind of traffic violations.

The police report states that on June 9 the 78-year-old man, Jerome Barson, was riding in the passenger seat of a Hyundai Accent, which his wife, Linda Barson, was driving. Linda told cops that she was driving into an intersection after the light turned green when Venus’ Toyota Sequoia “darted” in front of them. Linda didn’t have time to stop and crashed into Venus. Venus told the cops that she was trying to make it through the six-lane intersection but traffic was backed up and so she was stuck at the intersection. TMZ posted a diagram from the police report showing how the crash went down:

Jerome suffered head injuries and was taken to the hospital. He didn’t make it and died two weeks later. Linda was also injured and ended up with broken bones. Venus wasn’t injured at all.

The police report says that there’s no evidence to lead them to believe that Venus was boozed up or on drugs at the time of the crash. They also don’t think she was texting or using her phone. But they did say that the crash is her fault for violating the right of way of the other driver. Venus’ lawyer released this statement after the news got out:

“Ms. Williams entered the intersection on a green light. The police report estimates that Ms. Williams was traveling at 5 mph when Mrs. Barson crashed into her. Authorities did not issue Ms. Williams with any citations or traffic violations. This is an unfortunate accident and Venus expresses her deepest condolences to the family who lost a loved one.”

Lawsuits are definitely going to come out of this and I’m sure Caitlyn Jenner has already texted Venus her lawyers’ info.

Doesn’t Venus know the saying: DON’T BLOCK THE BOX (which sounds like the vagina and b-hole version of cockblocking, but this isn’t the post for that kind of talk). Even after looking at that diagram, I wasn’t quite sure how exactly this terrible crash happened, but it kind of made sense to me after I reminded myself that the Barsons were in a small car and Venus was driving a giant Toyota Sequoia, which is “The Rock on Jason Momoa’s shoulders” of SUVs.
