The truth is, this is a hard place for a vegan to blog about. If you want seafood baked, broiled, fried or steamed, or any kind of ice cream, you're golden. If you're a vegan, you can look forward to menu options like a side tossed salad, corn on the cob, and pasta with red sauce. I did get a platter of white beans, broccoli rabe and roasted potatoes the other night at a place that was sweetly accommodating but the amount of garlic and oil was totally overwhelming. I brought provisions for the house, so with a variety of soy or rice protein, tons of veggies, avocado and some fruit, and of course, they do have plenty of markets where I can find much of whatever else I might need, and I just plan my day knowing what challenges dining out might bring.
One nice thing about being here though, is that you have the chance to really admire natural beauty. The near cloudless sky, the tranquil bay, the smooth, sandy beach, the quiet sounds of leaves rustling and birds chirping ~ it's so peaceful. The food's rather irrelevant to the enjoyment. I'd love to know what you're all eating while I'm away but I also hope you have some quiet time of your own to enjoy places like this. And 4 generations of family, all living in one house, getting along and making memories is pretty wonderful too.
